Paul Weel & Toby Price partner for Team Australia! 🇦🇺
Paul Weel & Toby Price will team up for the 2022 SCORE International Races, Vegas to Reno, Baja 400 & Baja 1000, in a world-first “Team Australia” entry made up of the two Australian drivers.
Ex-V8 Supercars Driver Paul Weel has competed locally in the Australasian Safari & Stadium Super Truck Categories and has now turned his focus to taking on the International Off-Road Racing Stage.
Price is a two-time Dakar Rally Champion & six-time Finke Desert Race Champion in the bike Category and last year became the first person to win the event in both categories, claiming victory in the Car Category.
The Aussies will race in Weel’s custom built Geiser Bros G6 2WD Trophy Truck at Vegas to Reno (August 10-13), Baja 400 (September 13-14) & Baja 1000 (November 15-20), where Price finished 2nd overall in 2019 co-driving with Nasser Al-Attiyah.
The Baja 1000 is hailed as the pinnacle of off-road racing, where co-drivers & navigators take turns in the 1000 mile single loop race through Ensenada, Mexico.
Weel will race in the Extreme 2WD Class at this year's Finke Desert Race, going head-to-head with Price before coming together as team-mates in preparation for the Team Australia Campaign.
“I’ve enjoyed my time racing off-road, so much that I’ve set out to race the toughest off-road racing in the world, the Baja 1000 and what better person to do that with than Toby Price. We’ve been friends for many years and to be able to compete alongside a fellow Aussie makes it even better.""I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead and showing everyone what us Aussies are capable of on the international stage,” Weel said.
Price is hoping to defend his Finke Desert Race title before he turns his focus to racing internationally with Weel, all while competing in the FIM World Rally Championship with KTM Factory Racing.
“I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity, I have been a friend of Paul’s for many years and admired what he has done within his racing career prior to bursting onto the off-road scene. Paul has invested a huge amount of time and money into this project and it is an opportunity I want to grab with both hands and put us directly on the top step of the Baja 1000 podium,” Price said.
The Major Partner for the Team Australia entry is yet to be announced and their livery is yet to be revealed.
