Price on Pole Position at Finke
Toby Price has made the perfect start to his quest to win the car category at the Finke Desert Race by recording the fastest time in Prologue.
Price and co-driver Jason Duncan secured pole position for the 2019 Finke Desert Race with a blistering time of 4 minutes 41.5 seconds around the 8.3 kilometre Prologue track.
Price’s time in his #487 Red Bull Trophy Truck was nearly 3 seconds quicker than last year’s pole position time set by the eventual winners, who were second fastest behind Price during today’s prologue.
Price will now depart Alice Springs leading out the 142-strong car category.
"That's given me some chills! Far out, I'm speechless - I feel like I'm going to tear up at this one! To try and beat the buggies is crazy, this year we have the crew and we came out strong. We are a few seconds up on Shannon Rentsch which is usually the time he would put on us (the rest of the car category). We gave it hell on our lap and we were nearly on our roof a few times! I'm so pumped to put the Red Bull Trophy Truck on Pole Position and now we need to get a clean run tomorrow but we are in the best seat we can be and god damn excited!" - Toby Price
Price start from pole position when Day 1 of Racing from Alice Springs to Finke, 226km of off-road racing, gets underway at 7:45 ACST tomorrow morning.
